“The world of music is big, beautiful, joyous, noisy, shimmering, fast, still, loud, soft, edgy, delicate, in-your-face and above all, inextricably transporting…”
— The 28th Annual Bang On A Can program book

“Heavily inspired by the minimalist works of American composers like Steve Reich, Terry Riley and Philip Glass (as well as the radical Dutch composer, Louis Andriessen), Bang on a Can started as a wild, ‘let’s-just-see-if-this-works’ kind of idea – a ‘marathon’ concert of music from the now and the recent past – a no-frills artistic experience to be free of charge.”

Trailblazing new-music ensemble Bang on a Can All-Stars unveiled their newest album, "Field Recordings," live in The Greene Space on May 13, 2015. Presented by Q2 Music and hosted by Helga Davis, the evening featured a performance of the complete 13-track album, out now on Cantaloupe Music (cantaloupemusic.com), and included on-stage conversation with performers and composers.

“The music rallied, screamed and soared here [Bang on a Can Marathon].”
